Sam Kerr brought the curtain down on her Chelsea career in the most fitting way possible, scoring in her final appearance at Stamford Bridge to equal Fran Kirby’s all-time goalscoring record for the club.
Sam Kerr’s Remarkable Goal-Scoring Record
The Australian striker, who will leave Chelsea when her contract expires this summer, ends her six-and-a-half years at the club level with Kirby on 116 goals – cementing her place in Blues’ legend.
It is a remarkable tally built across all competitions: 65 goals in the Women’s Super League (where she is also Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer), 20 in the Champions League, 19 in the FA Cup, and 12 in the League Cup.

Over 158 appearances – the fourth-most in the club’s history – Kerr played a pivotal role in 12 trophy wins, including six successive WSL titles. Few players have left a mark on a club quite like she has on Chelsea.
“When I reflect on my Chelsea career and doing it for the last time, I just feel happy,” Sam Kerr said ahead of her farewell. “Happy that it happened, and I feel so grateful to have played for this club for six years and won as many trophies as we could.”
How Sam Kerr Equalled Fran Kirby’s Tally
The record-breaking goal itself was vintage Sam Kerr; meeting a Lauren James cross to whip a near-post volley past the goalkeeper after 34 minutes, sealing a 1-0 win over Manchester United in front of 15,040 fans.
Chelsea finished the WSL season in third spot, which means they missed out on automatic Champions League qualification – a big blow for the club.
