Lisa Baum made the perfect start to her Arsenal career, scoring on her Women’s Super League debut against Brighton at the weekend.
Here’s everything you need to know about the up-and-coming winger.
1) She Was Born in Tanzania
Lisa Baum was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, before moving to Germany at the age of four.
She began her football journey with local side MTV Ahrensbök before joining Hamburger SV’s academy in 2021.
2) She Helped Hamburg Climb the Divisions
Lisa Baum signed her first professional contract with Hamburger SV – commonly known as Hamburg – in 2022, going on to make 59 appearances and score 17 goals for the club.
She played a key role in helping them secure two promotions in three seasons, rising from the German third division to the Bundesliga, and in reaching the DFB-Pokal semi-final.
3) She Turned Down Bayern Munich for Leipzig
Rather than staying with Hamburg for their first season in the Bundesliga, Lisa Baum signed for RB Leipzig on a free transfer in 2025, choosing them over several major clubs – including Bayern Munich – who were also interested in the rising star.
She went on to make 25 appearances and score six goals for Leipzig across the 2025-26 season, before signing for Arsenal in the summer.
4) She’s Already a German Youth International
Lisa Baum has represented Germany from U16 to U23 level.
She was part of the squad at the 2024 U20 World Cup, featuring in every match and scoring against Canada, before Germany were eliminated by the United States in the quarter-finals.
5) She Scored on Her Women’s Super League Debut
Baum signed for Arsenal on a permanent transfer from RB Leipzig in July 2026, agreeing to a three-year deal (with the option of a further year), and wears the number 19 shirt for the club.
And it didn’t take her long to make her mark as a Gunner: she scored the winning goal on her Women’s Super League debut against Brighton just 10 minutes into the match.
