Barça Femení have confirmed their new captains for the 2026/27 season, with Patri Guijarro named first captain.
She takes over the armband from club legend Alexia Putellas, who departed for the WSL this summer.
An All-New Leadership Group For Barça Femení
Patri Guijarro leads Barça’s new five-player captaincy group, alongside Marta Torrejón, Irene Paredes, Aitana Bonmatí and Caroline Graham.
The club described the group as combining experience, leadership, and a deep understanding of what it means to represent Barça, with each of the five embodying the club’s values and serving as true role models for their teammates.
Guijarro’s First Game With The Armband
Patri Guijarro wore the captain’s armband for the first time in Barça’s 3-1 Joan Gamper Trophy win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday, 21 August.
She played a hand in two of Barça’s three goals, setting up Esmee Brugts for the opener and later picking out Clàudia Pina for Barça’s second.
Big Boots To Fill
Guijarro’s promotion comes after Alexia Putellas departed Barcelona on a free transfer to London City Lionesses, ending 14 trophy-laden years at the club. She left as Barça Femení’s all-time top scorer with 232 goals in 507 appearances.
She also won more than 30 major honours at Barça, including 10 league titles and 4 Champions League titles, lifting the latter as captain in May this year.
