USA FOOTBALL STALWART CRYSTAL DUNN ANNOUNCES HER RETIREMENT
Following a successful career spanning almost two decades, American forward Crystal Dunn has announced her retirement from football.
DUNN’S EXTENSIVE FOOTBALLING CHAPTER HAS COME TO A CLOSE
After beginning her youth career in 2006, Dunn was a standout college player for the University of North Carolina, winning a national championship in 2012 and earning the MAC Hermann Trophy as the USA’s top college player.
Professionally, Dunn played mainly in the NWSL, including stints at Washington Spirit, North Carolina Courage, Portland Thorns, and NJ/NY Gotham FC.
She also played in Europe with Chelsea FC Women and Paris Saint-Germain.
Throughout her time as a Pro, Dunn won multiple domestic league titles and shields, and was the NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner in 2015.
A CONSISTENT PRESENCE WITHIN THE US WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM (USNWT)
Crystal Dunn became an ever-present figure within the USNWT, earning 160 caps and scoring 25 goals.

She also won the 2019 World Cup with her home nation and an Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games.
THE AMERICAN LEGEND IS NOW READY FOR LIFE AWAY FROM SPORT
In an emotional post on her Instagram, Dunn explained that she is now “ready to embrace the life that awaits [her] on the other side”, and said that she was looking forward to spending additional time with her family and “being a more present mom”.
She went on to say that, even though this hasn’t been an easy decision for her to make, she is now “at peace and deeply fulfilled”, adding that she’s achieved everything she’d dreamt of and given her all to the sport throughout her extensive and highly successful career.
