Leah Williamson and Lauren James are two of the five Lionesses rejoining the England squad ahead of the start of their 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Hannah Hampton, Jess Carter, and Alex Greenwood have also received the call from head coach Sarina Wiegman.
They will be available for selection for England’s matches against Ukraine in Turkey on March 3rd and Iceland at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on March 7th.
England Squad bolstered by Williamson
The return of captain Leah Williamson will no doubt be a huge morale boost for the England Squad.
Williamson hasn’t been on international duty since England’s Euro 2025 triumph in July, where she picked up a knee injury in the final.
In a press conference announcing the squad last week, Wiegman highlighted Williamson’s leadership and experience as vital to the group, despite her lack of minutes.
Lauren James will also feature in England colours for the first time since last summer, after missing the most recent round of international friendlies due to injury.
Wiegman still has injury concerns
The return of five key players will provide a welcome boost for Wiegman, as she’s still facing several injury concerns.
Ella Toone is sidelined with a hip problem, Beth Mead has picked up a hairline fracture on her shin, and Niamh Charles remains out after a long-term shoulder injury.
