Sam Kerr found the back of the net twice in Chelsea’s convincing 4-1 win over Everton, and in doing so levelled Fran Kirby’s goal-scoring record for the club.
How Kerr Levelled Fran Kirby’s record
Chelsea made the trip to Goodison Park knowing a win would be crucial for their Champions League qualification hopes, and it was Kerr who set the tone early on.
The Australian forward opened the scoring in the sixth minute, calmly slotting home an excellent through-ball from Erin Cuthbert.
Everton hit back almost immediately, as Yuka Momiki produced one of the goals of the season, spotting goalkeeper Hannah Hampton off her line and firing in a stunning strike from 35 yards to level the scores just four minutes later.

Chelsea dominated the remainder of the first half but couldn’t find a way to break the deadlock.
However, that quickly changed after the restart, when Lauren James delivered an inch-perfect pass for Kerr to finish first time, putting Chelsea back in front and bringing her level with Fran Kirby’s record.
Kerr was unfortunate not to complete a hat-trick shortly after, with a header appearing to cross the line before Everton keeper Courtney Brosnan scooped it clear – but without goal-line technology, the goal wasn’t given.
Chelsea wrapped up the win through Ellie Carpenter in the 53rd minute and Cuthbert in the 70th, completing a commanding 4-1 victory.
Could Kerr Overtake Fran Kirby?
Both players now sit on 63 WSL goals for The Blues, but with two games left, could Kerr overtake Kirby to become the club’s all-time WSL top goal-scorer before the season closes?
With Kirby now plying her trade for Brighton, Chelsea’s remaining two WSL fixtures give her the chance to make history.
First up is an away trip to Leicester City on Sunday 3 May, before the season closes at home against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 16 May.
