Manchester United Women came from behind to beat London City Lionesses 2-1 in their Women’s Super League clash on 15 February, 2026 – their seventh straight victory and one which left boss Marc Skinner “buzzing”.
High praise for the Reds
In a post-match interview on X, Marc Skinner had nothing but praise for his Manchester United Women’s side.
He highlighted their resilience and adaptability – particularly Lisa Naalsund’s, whose position had to change several times during the match – and was clearly proud of their efforts to fight back and win the game.
Skinner went on to explain that he feels that this team “has the deepest of Manchester United spirits”.
Manchester United Women hold on despite London City pressure
Despite the end result, it was London City Lionesses who made the perfect start when Nikita Parris fired them ahead after just five minutes.
The Reds responded well and began to control possession, and their pressure paid off on the half-hour mark when Jess Park struck from outside the box to equalise.

The second half was an open contest and a very even affair, with both teams battling in midfield and looking dangerous on the counter.
However, the decisive moment came in the 79th minute, when defender Millie Turner powered in a header from a Maya Le Tissier free kick.
United held firm to secure three important points and their seventh win on the bounce.
They remain second in the table, but won’t return to WSL action until Wednesday 18th March, when they head to the Chigwell Construction Stadium to take on West Ham.
