After finding the back of the net once again last weekend against Chelsea, Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw has opened up daylight on her nearest rivals for the 2025/2026 WSL Golden Boot.
Shaw is currently averaging a goal a game, with an impressive 14 in 14 tally. She’s also assisted 4 other goals, helping City cement their lofty place on top of the WSL.
And it’s not the first time the Jamaican has been in this position – she’s won the WSL Golden Boot for the last two seasons in a row (in the 2024/2025 season she shared the accolade with Alessia Russo).
Can Shaw Be Caught? It Looks Unlikely
With 12 teams in the WSL for the 25/26 season, each squad will play 22 games, leaving just 6 more to play before the season is out (although Arsenal and Leicester both have a game in hand).

Shaw’s closest contender for the Golden Boot is currently Aston Villa forward Kirsty Hanson – but she’s only scored half as many as Shaw, with 7 goals to her name this season.
Given there are only 6 games remaining – or 7, for Arsenal and Leicester – it looks almost certain that Shaw will be this year’s recipient of the WSL Golden Boot, which would make her the first player ever to take the trophy for three consecutive seasons.
Who is City Superstar Khadija Shaw?
Jamaican-born Khadija – better known as ‘Bunny’ – has been an integral part of the Man City lineup after moving to the team in 2021 following a stint with Bordeaux.
Before heading to France, she made her mark with several teams in the United States, starring for Florida State College Titans, Tennessee Volunteers, and Florida Krush.
She’s currently both Jamaica and City’s all-time leading goal-scorer.
