Arsenal have completed the signing of England international Georgia Stanway on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, marking the midfielder’s return to the WSL after four years in Germany.
She Leaves on the Back of Four Bundesliga Titles in a Row
Georgia Stanway leaves Bayern Munich having won eight trophies over her four seasons at the club – including the Bundesliga title in each of those campaigns – plus two German Cups and two German Super Cups.
She scored 32 goals in 128 appearances for Bayern, cementing her reputation as one of the best central midfielders in the world.
Georgia Stanway Set to Make a Mark Back in England
Before her move to Germany, Stanway spent seven seasons at Manchester City after coming through the youth ranks at Blackburn Rovers. She made 186 appearances for the Mancunian outfit, scoring 67 goals and winning the WSL title, three FA Cups and three League Cups along the way.
And now, she’ll wear the number 4 shirt at Arsenal.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling, and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal,” Stanway said.

“This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels, and I want to be a part of it. I want to win trophies and grow as a player, and this is the right place to do that with the backing of an incredible fanbase.”
On the international stage, Georgia Stanway has scored 33 goals in 93 appearances for England, and played an integral role in both of the Lionesses’ European Championship triumphs in 2022 and 2025 either side of reaching the 2023 World Cup final.
She was made an MBE in the New Year Honours 2026 in recognition of her achievements.
Away from football, Stanway is a lover of tattoos and is even a tattoo artist herself, with her own business, Tattoo By GS.
