That’s Why Chelsea Want Her! Bunny Shaw the Hero as New WSL Champions Join Brighton in Women’s FA Cup Final

Manchester City came from behind to defeat Chelsea on Sunday, setting up a Women’s FA Cup Final clash against Brighton.

And, if anyone needed a reminder of why Chelsea are so keen to sign her, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw provided it in emphatic fashion, becoming City’s hero of the day.

How City Reached the Women’s FA Cup Final

It was a storyline for the ages, as the Jamaican international – who dominated headlines last week amid rumours of an imminent transfer from City to Chelsea – scored twice in the closing stages to complete a remarkable comeback.

Chelsea had looked comfortable for the majority of the match, with goals from Erin Cuthbert and Sam Kerr giving them a 2-0 lead with just four minutes of normal time remaining.

But Mary Fowler pulled one back in the 86th minute, before Shaw – perhaps spurred on by the Chelsea fans chating “Bunny Shaw, we’ll see you next season” – stepped up to equalise in stoppage time.

She then put the game to bed in extra time, heading home the winner in the 103rd minute.

It caps a remarkable seven days for Andree Jeglertz’s side, who were crowned WSL champions for the first time in a decade on Wednesday.

Sunday’s victory means City will now have a shot at a domestic double as they take on Brighton in the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley on 31 May.
