Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Spain international Ona Batlle on a free transfer from Barcelona.
The 27-year-old defender joins on a four-year deal, with the option to extend for a further year.
Ona Batlle’s Prestigious Spell at Barcelona
Ona Batlle departs Barcelona having made 114 appearances and scoring 14 goals across three seasons in her second spell at the club.
She helped the Catalans win three league titles, three Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups and two Champions Leagues.
Batlle is Continuing a Prestigious Career Path
Born in Vilassar de Mar, Batlle came through Barcelona’s academy before senior spells at Madrid CFF and Levante.
She then moved to Manchester United in 2020 – making 77 appearances over three seasons and establishing her reputation as one of the best full-backs in the world – before returning to Barcelona ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The full-back has 76 caps for Spain, scoring twice, and started every game as Spain won the World Cup in 2023.
She’s also won back-to-back UEFA Women’s Nations League titles, and was named in the FIFA Best XI in both 2024 and 2025, as well as the FIFPRO Women’s World 11 in 2025.
Batlle Wants to Win Trophies on Her Return to the WSL
After her time in Manchester, Ona Batlle is no stranger to the WSL and is looking forward to playing in front of an English crowd once more.
“Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to feel the joy of playing in front of our supporters at Emirates Stadium alongside so many great players,” she said on signing for the Gunners.
“I want to win trophies, and I feel this is the right place to achieve that.”
