Liverpool have completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Natalia Ramos from CD Tenerife Femenino, subject to the usual visa approval and international clearance processes.
Ramos’ arrival is the latest in a flurry of business activity for the club, as she becomes the sixth new recruit of the summer.
Here’s everything you need to know about the WSL’s latest arrival.
1) She Lands With an Impressive Goal Record
Natalia Ramos made more than 200 appearances for CD Tenerife Femenino.
Last season alone, she made 30 appearances in Spain’s top flight, scoring 10 goals and adding five assists – a seriously impressive haul for a central midfielder.
2) She’ll Wear the Number 6 Shirt
Speaking after putting pen to paper on her contract, Natalia Ramos described feeling “very happy” to wear the No.6 shirt.
“I’m really, really happy. I’m very excited to achieve this new step in my life, and I’m very grateful for this new opportunity in my life,” she said.
“For me it was a very easy decision and I’m very, very happy, with a lot of feelings and emotions because I know who the club is, the respect [it has].
“I feel very happy and privileged to take this shirt and sign at the club.”
3) She Was a Spanish Junior International
Internationally, Natalia Ramos has represented Spain at both the U17 and U19 levels.
She was part of the Spanish squad that won the 2017 Women’s European Under-19 Championship in Northern Ireland.
The 27-year-old is yet to be called up for her country’s senior squad.
4) She’s a Twin (and Runs a Football Campus with Her Sister)
Natalia Ramos has a twin sister, Noelia, who is also a professional footballer.
The pair previously played together at Granadilla and Levante, and now run a football campus together in their hometown of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife. The first edition took place over four days in December and was aimed at children aged 8 to 15.
5) This is Natalia Ramos’ First Move Abroad
This is Ramos’s first time playing outside of Spain. In fact, before signing for Liverpool, she’d never set foot in England!
She already knows one familiar face in the squad – fellow Spaniard Alejandra Bernabe – and says she’s looking forward to settling in and exploring Liverpool as a city, calling the move “a very easy decision” given the club’s reputation.
