London City Lionesses have completed the signing of France forward Kadidiatou Diani from Lyon on a three-year deal worth more than £500,000.
Here’s everything you need to know about the club’s latest superstar signing.
1) Kadidiatou Diani’s Football Career Began in 2010
Kadidiatou Diani began her career at Juvisy (now Paris Women FC) while she was still a teenager.
She joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, going on to hit 92 goals across six seasons, making her the club’s third-highest goalscorer of all time, and helping PSG win the Division 1 Féminine title in 2020-21.
2) She Won Trophies Galore at Lyon
Diani moved to Lyon in 2023, spending three seasons there and scoring 41 goals in 93 appearances.
During her time at the club, she won several Division 1 Féminine titles, the Trophée des Championnes, and the Coupe de France Féminine.
She twice came agonisingly close to getting her hands on the coveted Champions League trophy, with Lyon losing two finals during her spell at the club.
3) She’s One of France’s Most Important Attackers
Kadidiatou Diani has represented France at every level, winning the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
At senior level, she was a core part of the squad which reached the semi-finals of Euro 2022 and the quarter-finals of the 2023 World Cup. In total, she has more than 100 international caps to her name.
4) Kadidiatou Diani is An Award-Winner
She won the Silver Boot at the 2023 World Cup as the tournament’s second-highest scorer, and was included in the Team of the Season for the 2023-24 Women’s Champions League. She’s also been a regular name on the Ballon d’Or Féminin shortlist, although the award has escaped her thus far.
5) She’s Now Reunited With Michele Kang
Kadidiatou Diani’s move to London City Lionesses sees her reunite with owner Michele Kang – who also owns Lyon.
On her move to London, Diani said: “I’m really happy to have signed here. It is an opportunity for me to discover a new country, a new city, a new team, and I can’t wait to start this next chapter.
“I’m excited to meet my new teammates and staff, to work at the training ground and the stadium, and to meet the fans.”
