Sacha Lewis has signed her first professional contract with Manchester City, capping a journey through the club’s academy that began at U14 level.
The 18-year-old full-back follows in the footsteps of her older brother, England international Rico Lewis, who also came through City’s youth ranks.
Off the Back of a Brilliant Season for Next Gen
Sacha Lewis’ pro breakthrough comes off the back of a standout season for City’s Next Gen side in 2025/26.
She won the club’s inaugural Next Gen Player of the Season award as the team finished fifth in their first-ever PGA Under-21 campaign.
She also featured in the first-team matchday squad twice last season, against Chelsea and Brighton, and was named in the squad for a League Cup semi-final against Chelsea in January.
Building on Previous Senior Minutes
An England Under-19 international, Sacha Lewis was part of City’s travelling squad for their 2024 Australia pre-season tour, coming off the bench in a penalty shootout win over Leicester City in Perth.
She has yet to make her senior WSL debut but looks set to make an appearance in the coming season.
Contract “Means So Much” to Sacha Lewis
Speaking after signing her first pro paperwork, Sacha Lewis said: “It’s amazing. A lot of hard work was put in and it’s such a great achievement. I’m proud. It means so much, it means even more because I support City.”
Therese Sjogran, City’s Director of Football, praised her development, calling her “a shining example to her teammates, despite still being just 18”.
She also thanked Head of Girls’ Academy Hannah Dingley and lead coach Izzy Christiansen for their role in her progress.
