Wrexham Women Write History with First Adran Premier Title

Wrexham Women – who captured the hearts of football fans thanks to the Welcome To Wrexham series – made history on Saturday, winning the Adran Premier title for the first time in the club’s history.

Despite going behind early on in the game, their eventual 4-1 victory over Cardiff City sealed the deal.

An Early Scare for the Red Dragons

It wasn’t the smoothest of starts for the Red Dragons, who fell behind after just six minutes when Cardiff City winger Mikayla Cook curled a free kick into the top corner.

Wrexham responded well and battled for an equaliser before Katie Barker pounced on a costly Cardiff mistake to level things up just moments before the break.

A Second-Half Demolition Job From Wrexham Women

The second half was a different story entirely.

Barker put Wrexham ahead within three minutes of the restart, finishing from Faye Knox‘s cross for her 23rd league goal of the season.

Knox then got in on the act herself, firing a stunning effort from range into the top corner to make it three, before Barker completed her hat-trick from the penalty spot after drawing a foul in the box.

Wrexham’s victory signalled a changing of the guard, ending Cardiff’s reign as champions of Wales.
