Australia international Holly McNamara has swapped the light blue of Melbourne FC for the royal blue of Everton.
Here’s everything you need to know about the club’s latest addition.
1) She’s Melbourne City’s All-Time Top Goalscorer
Holly McNamara leaves Melbourne City as the club’s all-time leading women’s goalscorer, having netted 45 times in just 66 appearances across five seasons. She also scored four hat-tricks during her spell there, the most by any woman in the club’s history.
Her move to Everton comes on a free transfer, following the expiry of her Melbourne City contract.
2) Holly McNamara Has Overcome Serious Injury Setbacks
McNamara battled through multiple ACL injuries throughout her career, including one before joining Melbourne City and further injuries during the 2021/22 and 2023/24 seasons.
Despite the setbacks, she returned each time to establish herself as one of the A-League’s most prolific forwards.
3) She’s a Two-Time Golden Boot Winner
Holly McNamara won back-to-back A-League Golden Boots in her final two seasons at Melbourne City, and was named the league’s Young Footballer of the Year back in 2022.
She also helped the club win three Premierships and a Championship during her time there.
4) She’s Shone On the Continental Stage
Holly McNamara excelled in the AFC Women’s Champions League, Asia’s premier club competition for women’s football.
She scored five goals in eight appearances for Melbourne City in the 2025/2026 season, helping them reach the semi-finals, where they eventually lost 3-1 to Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza.
Despite not getting the opportunity to play in the final, McNamara still finished as the league’s leading goalscorer this year.
5) She’s a Rising Star For the Australian squad
Holly McNamara made her senior Australia debut at the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, and has since won 19 caps for her country. She helped the Matildas claim silver at the 2026 Asian Cup, alongside her now Everton teammate Clare Wheeler.
