Manchester City have wrapped up the signing of German international Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen, with the full-back putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

1) Carlotta Wamser Has Played For Four German Clubs
Carlotta Wamser made her name at SGS Essen, where she was top scorer with five goals in the 2020-21 season, earning her the Player of the Season award as voted for by fans.
From there, she moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, had a loan spell at FC Köln, and spent a year at Bayer Leverkusen before making the switch to Manchester City.
2) Her Versatility Means She Was a Target For Several Clubs
Carlotta Wamser attracted interest from clubs all over Europe before her move to City, largely due to her versatility on the pitch.
She can play comfortably on either side of the defence as a left-back or right-back, and is an all-around full-back
3) She Was Part of Germany’s Euro 2025 Run
Her major tournament debut came off the bench against Poland at Euro 2025, as she was called into action following an injury to teammate Giulia Gwinn – and she made an almost immediate impact.
Wamser won the ball deep in Poland’s half to tee up Jule Brand for Germany’s first goal in the 2-0 victory, giving them the best possible start to the tournament.
She then went on to play every minute of Germany’s semi-final defeat to Spain.
4) She’s a Two-Time Fritz Walter Medal Winner
Carlotta Wamser’s Bronze at the 2020 Fritz Walter Medal awards was followed by silver at U19 level in 2022.
The Fritz Walter Medal is Germany’s official award for the country’s best young football talents, so the recognition marks Wamser out as one of the nation’s brightest players.
She was also part of the German squad that won the U17 European Championship back in 2019, earning a place in the tournament’s all-star team.
5) She’s Joining Fellow German Squad Members at City
Wamser will now link up with international teammates Rebecca Knaak and Sydney Lohmann at Manchester City, and will wear the number 37 shirt for her new club.
