It’s wedding season for Chelsea defender Jess Carter as she announces her engagement to long-term partner and former teammate, German goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger.
The love between the pair was palpable as they both took to social media to share the news of their engagement. On Instagram, Carter posted a photo with Berger where she captioned the beautiful photo of her and her fiancee, “7 years down forever to go,”. Berger returned the sentiment with the same photo of them but from a different angle, referring to her fiance as her “best trophy so far”.
The happy couple’s social media was flooded with well wishes from fans and fellow players as they gear up not only for the upcoming wedding but also for the forthcoming Euro 2025 qualifiers. Carter will represent England, while her fiancee will be part of the German squad facing Poland in the same competition.
The lovebirds have been together for seven years while they both played for Chelsea. A month ago, Berger was transferred to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side NJ/NY Gotham FC. Prior to leaving, Berger spent six seasons at Chelsea, where she was a key player in their success.
While Berger went on to play for NJ/NY Gotham FC, Carter remained in Chelsea, enjoying an outstanding season Chelsea. Interestingly, Chelsea went on to win the Women’s Super League title for the seventh time.
As we await more news on their wedding plans, we’re geared up for their upcoming matches. For more women’s football events, check out our Goalissa fixtures page.
