Grab yourself a hot cup of coffee and settle in to read all about football star Jill Scott’s popular coffee shop, Boxx2Boxx Coffee.
Lioness Jill opened up Boxx2Boxx Coffee in April 2021 with her fiancée Shelly Unitt, and the place has gone from strength to strength since then. The name comes from Jill’s infamous position as a box-to-box midfielder that she played throughout her career for both the England national team and for Manchester City.
The coffee shop can currently be found at 375 Palatine Road in Northenden, but Jill and Shelly have just announced that they’re closing that location down and moving 100m down the road to number 399. The pair had put out a few teasers on social media over the last few weeks that something like this was in store, mentioning that bigger and better things were coming for Boxx2Boxx coffee. So it’s really exciting to hear that they’re packing up and moving into a much larger space to be able to expand the popular coffee shop, without them needing to move out of the Northenden area.
While Jill and Shelly haven’t shared many details of the new, bigger, and better Boxx2Boxx Coffee, we’re imagining they’ll keep a lot of the popular elements of the current shop. There’s a lot of Jill stamped there at the moment, with several nods to her passion for football and a mural of the star on one of the walls.
One thing we do know for sure, is that they’ll keep on serving their great-tasting coffees, teas, and hot chocolates, along with the ever-changing selection of bakes and sweet treats. And don’t forget the Boxx2Boxx merch you can pick up, like umbrellas, beanies, mugs, and of course coffee!
The couple will also be taking their hard-working team with them, keeping things in the family a bit with Shellys’ youngest daughter Hattie helping out when she can alongside her studies.
Jill and Shelly (whose sister is former Arsenal and England player Rachel Unitt) have been together for around six years and got engaged back in March 2020. Their wedding plans were derailed with the pandemic and the general busyness of life since then, but they’ve hinted that they are now starting to get things organised to tie the knot.
They’ve both put a lot of time and effort into making Boxx2Boxx Coffee a success, with Jill regularly working shifts there and getting to know their regulars. Alongside their regular opening hours, the couple also run events like sticker swaps and quiz nights, and also welcome visitors to come and play board games there every Sunday. It’s things like this that have really made the place a big part of the local community.

And with the new, bigger location they’ll be able to put on even more events, as well as open for longer each day. They’ve even got an alcohol licence which means they can make the new place more of a bistro/coffee shop.
These are exciting times for Jill and Shelly, and we’re looking forward to seeing all their plans for Boxx2Boxx Coffee take shape over the next few weeks! Check out the Boxx2Boxx Coffee to see how you can enjoy their range of products.
