It’s a double victory for Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala, who not only scored the UEFA Women’s goal of the season for 2023/24 but also secured a historic championship win with her previous club, Barcelona Femeni.
Her journey in football history took a dramatic turn when she achieved the first triple in the club’s history. The defining moment was her breathtaking bicycle kick in the opening group game against Benfica, a goal that not only secured a vital win but also earned her the season’s best goal title from UEFA.
The win against Lyon marks another milestone for Oshoala, making her the first African player to win three UEFA Women’s Championship Titles with the Barcelona women’s team. She has gone to surpass fellow Nigerian player, Perpetua Nkwocha, having a total of six wins under her belt. Oshoala presently is the leading African player in Championship League history.
